ABOUT THE TOUR:
The Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary is the world’s only jaguar preserve. Cradled by the Maya Mountains and overlooked by the towering Victoria Peak.
The preserve offers well-established trails, and you’ll be glad your guide will plan a hike based on your group’s comfort. And even better, with the guide’s help you’ll identify numerous plant species and birds. Bring your binoculars to enhance your experience.
As you hike through the preserve, you may encounter diverse wildlife. Animal sightings are unpredictable, but your guide is looking for tracks and signs of jaguarundis, margays, ocelots, pumas, deer, howler monkeys, and tapirs. While jaguars and other big cats are primarily nocturnal and rarely seen, you can often spot their fresh tracks along the trails.
Cool off with a river-tubing adventure on the South Stann Creek River, surrounded by abundant jungle and birdlife.
